PM Trudeau invokes Emergencies Act in respon

PM Trudeau invokes Emergencies Act in respon PM Trudeau invokes Emergencies Act in response to ongoing protestsPrime Minister Justin Trudeau announced on Monday he is enacting the Emergencies Act for the first time in Canadian history, in response to ongoing protests over COVID-19 restrictions in Ottawa and around Canada. Trudeau says the act will be limited in time, scope and geographical area and it is not being used to call in the military or to override the charter. The act, established in 1988, allows the federal government to override the provinces and authorize special temporary measures to ensure security during national emergencies.

The Sad and Brutal Final Hours of Camp Freedom and the Convoy to Canberra by aletho

The Sad and Brutal Final Hours of Camp Freedom and the Convoy to Canberra by aletho A Sense of Place | February 15, 2022 What had been a remarkably successful policing operation, handling the one million protestors who showed up in Canberra to protest two years of government overreach during the Covid era, turned sour in the final hours. Until that point there had been no reports of violence, rapes, vandalism or all the other behaviours one might fairly expect with such a wildly diverse and yes, angry crowd. Although the crowd was unmasked, and certainly weren’t lining up to QR code in, the authoritarian derangement and violent police excesses the nation has become accustomed to were nowhere to be seen. Australians are extremely slow to protest; but with millions having lost their jobs, their businesses, even contact with their families amidst deep social divisions created by being daily threatened or ostracised if they do not take “the jab”, they are silent no more. The hands off po

What Will We Tell Our Children?

What Will We Tell Our Children? by aletho BY SARABETH MATILSKY | BROWNSTONE INSTITUTE | FEBRUARY 14, 2022 When I try to answer my children’s questions, I am so furious that I can barely speak. I choose my words slowly. “Many grownups around you have failed.” Never have I wished so strongly to be wrong than when I remember predictions I made back in March of 2020. And instead, for almost two years and counting, we have collectively failed and keep failing at the primary goal of any society: protecting our children. The sum total of youth Covid policy comes down to this: millions of kids wearing masks in school, being told to stay away from each other and obsessively avoid germs, and receiving vaccines en masse that they likely do not need. Why are so few of us speaking up for the children? “Always be skeptical,” I tell my children, “of anyone who wants you to be scared. Thoughtless fear is dangerous, and one should always try to make decisions when calm. Grownups haven’t been doing a

Russia deploys MiG-31K fighter jets in Syria for naval exercises: Report

Russia deploys MiG-31K fighter jets in Syria for naval exercises: Report Russian media have said the Kinzhal hypersonic missile can hit targets up to 2,000 km (1,243 miles) away. Russia has deployed MiG-31K fighter jets with hypersonic Kinzhal missiles and long-range Tupolev Tu-22M strategic bombers to its air base in Syria for naval exercises, Interfax news agency reported on Tuesday, citing the defence ministry. The aircraft dispatched to Russia's Hmeimim air base will take part in exercises in the eastern Mediterranean, part of a surge of Russian military activity amid a standoff with the West over Ukraine and security in Europe. Moscow announced on Jan. 20 that its navy would stage an array of exercises involving all its fleets from the Pacific to the Atlantic, drawing on 10,000 servicemen, 140 warships and dozens of planes. Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's Damascus has been a staunch ally of Moscow since Russia launched an air strike campaign in Syria in 2015. Apart fro

Emergency powers to target protest funding

Emergency powers to target protest funding by aletho RT | February 14, 2022 The Canadian government has moved to extend its financial regulations to crowdfunding platforms and cryptocurrencies, under the Emergencies Act invoked Monday to crack down on “Freedom Convoy” trucker protests against Covid-19 mandates. Under the emergency, which is due to last 30 days unless extended, all crowdfunding and crypto platforms must register with Canada’s financial intelligence agency FinTrac and report “large or suspicious” transactions, Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland said on Monday. This is an expansion of Canada’s existing money-laundering and terrorist financing rules, and the government will propose a law that would make these powers permanent, she added. “We know that these platforms are being used to support illegal blockades and illegal activity which is damaging the Canadian economy,” said Freeland. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s government has declared trucker protests – from t

Will Lagarde and the ECB Survive this Inflection Point in Geopolitics? ------Tom Luongo

Will Lagarde and the ECB Survive this Inflection Point in Geopolitics? Author: Tom Luongo Recently, ECB President Christine Lagarde shocked markets with surprisingly hawkish talk at her monetary policy press conference. Lagarde didn’t make any sudden moves in policy or anything.  The ECB has yet to end any of its bond-buying and internal debt-transfer alphabet soup projects, and won’t until Q3 at the earliest. Markets were not prepared by her previously that she would set such a hawkish tone. Say what you want about FOMC communications policy, at least under Jerome Powell, they tell you what they are going to do and then do it. But Lagarde needed to do something dramatic because capital markets were moving quickly against her. Traders stopped trying to disbelieve the illusion of Fed hawkishness and finally accepted what Powell was saying. For better or worse (and that debate was lively in this podcast I did with Peter Boockvar last week) the Fed will raise rates in March. This isn’t

TULSI TRUTH BOMBS: ‘Elites Trying to Silence and Cancel People Who Question the Narrative’

TULSI TRUTH BOMBS: ‘Elites Trying to Silence and Cancel People Who Question the Narrative’ posted by Hannity Staff - 2.14.22 Former congresswoman and presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard spoke with USA Today about the recent Joe Rogan controversy and the dangers of cancel culture. “I’ve gotten to know Joe and consider him a good friend; he’s like the nicest, most generous, humble guy, and I think he’s done the right thing in addressing these issues that have come up; very directly, very honestly and been very ready to admit how he can be better and apologizing. I think it’s what we would hope to get from anyone, really. And I think how not only a lot of the kind of the corporate response has been, but also, frankly, the White House inserting itself into trying to cancel Joe Rogan points to the bigger issue, which is really the attempts by the power elite trying to silence and cancel people who dare to question the establishment narrative, who dare to maybe hold a different view. And
